The Past Players Dinner was held on Saturday 24th July at the Clubrooms. Guest speaker, club legend Greg Gordon recounted as many side splitting yarns as awards he has collected through the years ... and that was plenty .. Ross Direen took 10 minutes to read through Ducky's list of achievements before Ducky launched into a one-man stand-up comedy hour.
Earlier on SFL President Paul Harris brought the gathering up to date with the latest developments in the SFL. Noteworthy is Glenorchy's application to re-enter the SFL and contribute its reserves side as an SFL team next year. Paul reminded the gathering of the previous failure of some southern TSL teams to play fairly and honestly in their wheelin-deelin departure from the old SFL. He felt that bad blood left-over from their trail of broken promises might put up barriers to any smooth re-entry into SFL competition.
This year's Past Players Reunion honoured the 1960 Cygnet Football Club teams who won the Seniors Premiership and were Runners-up in the Reserves.
Present at the dinner from those teams were Ray (Tex) Gordon, C Eaton, K Fletcher,Bob Clifford, Des Gordon and Hilary Brereton from the Senior side ... and Graeme Gorringe, Brian Dance and Terry Gordon from the Reserves. (see first photo in gallery above)
