Editorial Policy

This website's main purpose is to promote the interests of the Cygnet Football Club. We hope to increase the enjoyment derived from being involved with the club as a player, official or supporter. The website also increases the public presence of the club.

Mindful of these aims, anything published or posted on the website which is perceived as negative in relation to the club as a whole or in relation to any individual player, official or supporter may be removed. Similarly, items submitted may not be published if deemed unsuitable.

By and large, any individuals, who feel discomforted about material published about the club, themselves, their family, friends or dependants, are encouraged to contact the website administrator, and, in most cases, should expect prompt removal or correction of the offending material. In some cases it may appropriate for the editorial staff to publish an apology, but usually a simple correction or removal will ensue. A notice of correction may be published.

Because perceptions vary between people about what is OK and what is not OK, there may be times when offence may be generated when no offence is intended .. for this we apologise. Also there may be times when the editorial staff feel that a complaint about suitability of an item is either frivolous or misinterpreted or that there are important reasons the material remain on the website. In such cases we may communicate or discuss the issues with the complainant.  We retain the right to retain any disputed material on the website.

The website includes historical and factual information about the club and players past and present. Some of this is incomplete, and some may be incorrect. We encourage submissions and corrections.

The club has a group of dedicated journalists and photographers who keep the website going week by week. However any member of our footballing community is welcome and encouraged to submit any material they think worthy of publication. Anyone with journalistic , media (photographer, video, audio), or IT (website production)  interests  who would like to become involved in this website are invited to contact us.

History

This website owes its existence to the huge amount of effort and passion put in by Julian Direen and his co-conspirator Trent Cowen. This new-look website is built upon the foundations of the mass of data gathered and sent into cyber-space by Jules.

Our New-Look Site

2009 saw a few changes. Huw Wilkins helped us change to a CMS - Content Management System using a nice bit of (free) software called

concrete5

The beauty of a CMS is that anyone interested in contributing to the website on a regular basis can do so from their own computer, as the website program sits on the website server. So anyone out there who is keen to get involved can do so, armed with login and password details. If you wish to join in please let us know. Adding or changing content is easier than using a word processor.

This is a truly democratic leap for website design.

To help us wade through the many tasks and demands involved in this website project we have used another natty bit of software .. an online (free) Project Management Software called

verb

verb is an elegant management tool. Use it to help manage projects of any kind. You can share a project with "friends" (just like facebook). Simple to learn and use.
