The Club is pleased to reappoint Gavin as Senior Coach for the 2016 season.

On a personal level, Gavin has a great 2015 season, finishing runner-up in the Club's Best and Fairest Award.

Gavin is 30 years old, and is considered a hard running and athletic midfielder/utility with great skills, and is dangerous near goal. During his first year Gavin quickly earned the respect of everybody associated with the Club through sheer hard work and by providing excellent leadership and direction. This included working closely with the Committee and leadership group and establishing a rapport with the players, both collectively and individually.

Gavin is excited about the Club's chances in season 2016, with the majority of his 2015 squad recommitting and having gained several top level recruits in Ben Halton and Will Ford, who are returning from Statewide Leage Club, Lauderdale and Jacob Brereton, returning from Channel FC.

In addition several past senior players, including Grant Clark, Micheal 'Pud' Darcy, Matty Dance, Sam Dean and Bradley Watson are keen to pull the boots on again in 2016.

Also the recent recruitment of ex-Essendon and Burnie Hawks ruckman, Jason Laycock will bring must needed skill and experience to the Club.

The Cygnet Football Club is very pleased to announce that Shane 'Sticks' Clark has agreed to his reappointment as Reserves Coach for season 2016.

Shane has worked extremely hard over the past 2 years just to get a side on the park each Saturday.

His efforts were finally rewarded with two excellent wins to finish off the 2015 season and Sticks and the Club are looking forward to taking this good form into next season.

Matty brings a wealth of experience to the role, having had a very successful career with North Hobart (winning 3 Best & Fairest Awards) and representing Tasmania on four occasions. He is also a member of North Hobart’s Team of the Century and a Life Membership.

Matty will be ably assisted by ‘Squid’ Gordon and Brayden Hayes as Assistant Coaches. Brayden brings a youthful face to the Coaching group but has himself played in three TSL grand finals for Burnie and will be someone who can inspire our boys with his on field performances.

‘Squid’ brings a rich history of success and leadership from the Kermandie Football Club, where he has done it all, from premiership player to Coach to President.

This is an exciting announcement for ‘The Port’ as the club strongly believes it is essential for grass roots football in the Cygnet and Kermandie regions that an Under 18 side be fielded in 2016, building on the success of Southern Storm.
